Job Overview: The coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Area Coordinator (AC) position is crucial for overseeing all operational aspects of the Myanmar mission in Northern Myanmar, specifically in the Great North region. The AC is responsible for providing direction, development, and leadership to the mission, which includes managing partnerships and programming. The role involves supervising various coordinators based in Yangon and ensuring effective collaboration with teams in the field. The AC will face challenges such as high volatility in the operational context, ethical dilemmas regarding partnerships, and the need for stabilization after organizational changes. The first few months will focus on consolidating operations across different bases, finalizing earthquake response efforts, and adapting to the evolving humanitarian landscape in Myanmar.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Area Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:
Overseeing the completion of earthquake response projects funded by various organizations, including ECHO, UNOPS, and MHF.
Managing both emergency and resilience-building programming across Northern Myanmar.
Supervising a team of 210 staff members, including 13 expatriates and 30 coordination staff.
Ensuring effective partnerships with local and national responders.
Addressing challenges related to security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and humanitarian access in unstable areas.
Monitoring and adapting to developments in the Myanmar crisis, particularly in Kachin and the Central Dry Zone.
Leading the operational setup and action planning for the mission.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university-level degree, preferably a Master's degree in Political Science, International Relations, or Humanitarian Aid. Additionally, candidates should have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector and a similar position. Strong management skills, internal communication abilities, and experience in large-scale consortia are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate autonomy, collaboration, and the capacity to lead change effectively.
Educational Background: A university-level degree is required, with a preference for candidates holding a Master's degree in relevant fields such as Political Science, International Relations, or Humanitarian Aid. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the operational challenges faced in the field.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a specific emphasis on roles similar to that of an Area Coordinator.
