Job Overview:
The Risk and Compliance Coordinator plays a crucial role in strengthening the risk management capacity of the NRC's Country Office (CO). This position is responsible for supporting the CO in identifying, assessing, and managing risks, as well as ensuring compliance with various regulations and standards. The coordinator will work closely with the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and the Country Management Group to foster a culture of risk management within the organization. The role involves providing training, guidance, and support to CO staff on compliance matters, as well as contributing to the development of NRC's risk management framework. The coordinator will also assist in conducting risk assessments, compliance checks, and audits, ensuring that the CO adheres to local and international laws and donor requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Risk and Compliance Coordinator will have a wide range of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Supporting the Country Director and Country Management Group in identifying, assessing, and controlling risks in CO operations.
  • Conducting regular compliance checks and reporting on compliance issues.
  • Maintaining and updating risk management and compliance registers.
  • Assisting function leaders with compliance improvement measures.
  • Coordinating responses to audits and tracking follow-up on audit recommendations.
  • Providing training and support to CO staff on compliance matters, including risk management, anti-corruption, data protection, and the Code of Conduct.
  • Conducting annual corruption risk assessments and supporting the development of anti-corruption resources.
  • Assisting in implementing data protection requirements and providing training on data protection compliance.
  • Contributing to organizational learning by sharing insights and best practices in compliance and anti-corruption.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Risk and Compliance Coordinator position should possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in compliance, auditing, or risk management functions, or at least 4 years of experience in coordinator roles within the humanitarian sector. They should have documented results related to the responsibilities of the position and knowledge of the international regulatory context applicable to international non-governmental organizations (INGOs). Familiarity with safeguarding, accountability to affected populations, and Code of Conduct matters is also essential. A valid driver's license is required, and fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position typically includes a degree in a relevant field such as law, international relations, social sciences, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees or certifications in compliance, risk management, or auditing may be advantageous and are often preferred by employers in this sector.

Experience:
The position requires a solid level of experience, specifically a minimum of 3 years in compliance, auditing, or risk management roles. Alternatively, candidates with at least 4 years of experience in coordinator positions within the humanitarian sector will also be considered. Experience should demonstrate a strong understanding of compliance frameworks and risk management practices, particularly in the context of humanitarian operations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, both in written and verbal communication. Knowledge of the local working language may be necessary depending on the specific context of the Country Office. Additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly those relevant to the populations served by NRC.
