Job Overview:
The Deputy Field Coordinator for Programs (DFCP) is responsible for leading and supervising the implementation of programs in North Darfur, specifically in the Tawila and El Fasher localities. This role is crucial in aligning with the annual country strategy of SI and responding to the evolving humanitarian needs in the region, which has been severely impacted by the ongoing crisis in Sudan. The DFCP will support the design and implementation of multi-sectoral projects, ensuring quality project execution through direct management of Program Managers and coordination with UN agencies and NGOs, as well as supervision of local partners. The DFCP will also assist the Field Coordinator in representing SI in external meetings, thereby playing a vital role in the organization's operational success in a challenging environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The DFCP will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Leading the planning and execution of multi-sectoral programs in North Darfur, ensuring alignment with SI's strategic objectives.
  • Directly managing Program Managers to oversee project implementation and quality assurance.
  • Coordinating with external partners, including UN agencies and NGOs, to enhance collaboration and resource sharing.
  • Supporting the Field Coordinator in external representation and advocacy efforts.
  • Conducting assessments to identify the needs of IDPs and host communities, particularly in response to the ongoing conflict.
  • Developing and implementing strategies for programmatic growth and sustainability in the region.
  • Addressing security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security challenges and ensuring the safety of staff and beneficiaries during program implementation.
  • Facilitating training and capacity-building initiatives for local partners and staff to enhance operational effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong set of qualifications, including:
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as business, international relations, or a similar discipline.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in the humanitarian sector, demonstrating a solid understanding of emergency response and program management.
  • At least two years of experience in a similar position, showcasing leadership and project oversight capabilities.
  • Proven expertise in project management, with a focus on multi-sectoral approaches including WASH, Shelter/NFI, Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), and Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA).
  • Strong coordination and external engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain partnerships.
  • Excellent proposal and report writing skills, with a focus on clarity and impact.
  • Conflict-sensitive skills to navigate complex humanitarian environments effectively.
  • Leadership and team management abilities, with a strategic mindset for problem-solving and initiative.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as business, international relations, or a related area. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and for effectively managing programs in challenging environments.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least two years in a similar role. This experience should encompass project management and implementation in emergency contexts, demonstrating the ability to lead teams and coordinate with various stakeholders effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with external partners. Proficiency in Arabic is considered a strong asset, enhancing the ability to engage with local communities and stakeholders effectively.

  • The role is based in Tawila, Sudan, and involves significant responsibilities in a high-stakes environment characterized by security challenges and emergency needs. The compensation package includes a gross monthly salary starting from EUR 2,475, which consists of a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 750 is provided, along with coverage for accommodation and travel expenses. The organization implements a break system, allowing for time off every three months, along with an additional rest day for each month worked. Expatriates are also provided with a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations.
