Job Overview:
The Senior ICT Assistant position is crucial for the effective functioning of IOM’s corporate applications and infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing first-level user and technical support, ensuring that all users have access to the necessary IT services. This role involves assisting in the implementation, management, and maintenance of IT and communication services across various offices, including the mission, sub-regional office, and related country offices. The candidate will be expected to carry out installations, configurations, and upgrades of servers and software, while also maintaining communication systems and ensuring data integrity through robust ICT security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security measures. Training users on ICT systems and providing technical support during high-level meetings are also key responsibilities, making this role integral to the organization's operational success.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide first-level (Tier 1) user and technical support for IOM’s corporate applications and infrastructure.
  • Assist in the implementation, management, and maintenance of IT and communication services for the mission and related offices.
  • Carry out installation, configuration, and upgrading of servers, backup systems, and official computers.
  • Maintain communication systems including mobile lines, PABX, VoIP, and Internet access.
  • Support data and system integrity by administering ICT security systems such as anti-virus and firewall.
  • Provide ICT training to all users and extend support to staff in other offices.
  • Manage ticket ownership by opening, updating, and closing tickets while meeting Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Offer Tier 1 technical support to missions without ICT staff, ensuring effective diagnosis and resolution of incidents.
  • Provide technical support for high-level meetings and events organized by the sub-regional office and country offices. 1
  • Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with two years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a completed high school degree with four years of relevant experience is acceptable. Specialized training in IT systems and business software, particularly Microsoft Office, is essential. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, or ITIL are advantageous and will enhance a candidate's profile.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a university degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science or Information Technology. Candidates with a high school diploma may also apply if they have significant relevant experience. Specialized training in IT systems and business software is necessary, and certifications in Microsoft, Cisco, or ITIL are considered beneficial.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have experience in implementing and administering a Microsoft Windows network environment, including LAN/WAN setups. First-level network and desktop support experience is essential, along with a solid understanding of Windows Operating Systems, network protocols, and CISCO devices. Familiarity with VPNs and MS-based systems and applications is also required, ensuring the candidate can effectively support the organization's IT infrastructure.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for all applicants, with a working knowledge of at least one additional UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) being highly desirable. Fluency in both oral and written English is essential for effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders.
