Job Overview:
The Education Officer (Digitalization) plays a crucial role in supporting the development and preparation of education programs, particularly focusing on the digitalization of education. This position involves managing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the progress of digitalization initiatives within the overall education and youth program. The officer will work under the guidance of the Head of the Education Section, ensuring that the digitalization efforts align with UNICEF's mission to enhance educational outcomes for children. The role requires a proactive approach to program development and planning, as well as effective management and delivery of results. The officer will also provide technical and operational support for program implementation, engage in networking and partnership building, and contribute to innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the education sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Education Officer will be responsible for a variety of key functions, including:
  • Supporting program development and planning by contributing to the design and implementation of education programs focused on digitalization.
  • Managing and monitoring the delivery of results for education programs, ensuring that objectives are met and outcomes are evaluated effectively.
  • Providing technical and operational support to ensure successful implementation of education initiatives, including digital tools and resources.
  • Building and maintaining partnerships with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Engaging in innovation and knowledge management to promote best practices in digital education.
  • Contributing to capacity building efforts, ensuring that staff and partners are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to implement digital education initiatives successfully.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a university degree in fields such as digital technologies, educational sciences, or any other relevant technical area. Additionally, candidates should have at least two years of professional experience in program planning, management, and/or research specifically related to digitalization in education. Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of another official UN language or the local language of the duty station is considered an asset. Relevant experience working in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts is also desirable, as is experience within a UN system agency or organization.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a university degree in a relevant field, such as digital technologies or educational sciences. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively contribute to the digitalization of education programs.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in program planning, management, and/or research related to digitalization in education. This experience should ideally be gained in contexts that involve development, fragile settings, or humanitarian responses, providing the candidate with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities in these areas.

Languages:
Fluency in English is a mandatory requirement for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another official UN language or the local language of Bhutan is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in diverse contexts and with various stakeholders.
