Job Overview: The Education Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the development and preparation of education programs within UNICEF's country program in Burundi. This position is responsible for managing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the progress of education programs/projects. The Specialist provides technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes to facilitate the administration and achievement of results on education programs/projects. The focus is on improving learning outcomes and ensuring equitable and inclusive education, particularly for marginalized, disadvantaged, and excluded children in society. The role requires a proactive approach to program development and planning, ensuring that the educational needs of all children are met effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the development and planning of education programs, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and the needs of the community.
Manage the implementation of education programs, ensuring timely delivery of results and adherence to quality standards.
Monitor and evaluate program performance, utilizing data to inform decision-making and improve program effectiveness.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in education, economics, psychology, sociology, or another relevant technical field. A minimum of five years of professional experience in program planning, management, and/or research in education is required. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of educational policies and practices, particularly in developing contexts. Experience working in a UN system agency or organization is considered an asset, as is experience in a developing country.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: education, economics, psychology, sociology, or another relevant technical field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively contribute to UNICEF's education programs.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of professional experience in program planning, management, and/or research in education. This experience should ideally include work in developing countries and familiarity with the challenges and opportunities present in these contexts. Relevant experience within a UN system agency or organization is also considered advantageous, as it provides insight into the operational frameworks and standards expected in such environments.
Languages: Fluency in both French and English is required for this position. These language skills are essential for effective communication with stakeholders, partners, and team members.
