Job Overview: The Project Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) program in Turkey. This position involves working closely with the National Project Officer and the Senior Project Associate to implement and monitor project activities aimed at assisting AVRR beneficiaries. The incumbent will be responsible for compiling and presenting data related to the project, monitoring budgets, and ensuring that all administrative tasks are completed efficiently. The role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including governmental authorities and non-governmental organizations. The Project Assistant will also be involved in drafting reports and correspondence, organizing meetings and training sessions, and maintaining accurate records of project activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities related to AVRR.
Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific AVRR project topics.
Monitor project budgets, verify the availability of funds, obtain necessary approvals, and update budget-related information.
Support the administrative coordination of project implementation, liaising with various organizational units and external parties to initiate requests and process administrative actions.
Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
Prepare correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations, and other documentation.
Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions for stakeholders.
Respond to general information requests and inquiries, and maintain files and records.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a school diploma with four years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience. Additionally, candidates should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities and international institutions, as well as working with vulnerable groups such as migrants and refugees. Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations is considered an advantage.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include either a school diploma with four years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law. The degree must be from an accredited academic institution, and relevant professional experience is essential for consideration.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national and international institutions, and non-governmental organizations. Experience working with migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable groups is essential. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multi-cultural setting is advantageous and will be viewed favorably during the selection process.
Languages: Fluency in English and Turkish is mandatory for this position, both oral and written. Knowledge of other UN languages, such as French or Spanish, is considered an asset. Proficiency in the required languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
