Job Overview:
The Supplier Sustainability Assessment Lead plays a crucial role in supporting MSF's procurement teams by engaging suppliers on sustainability-related issues. This position is pivotal in increasing the proportion of MSF's spending that is covered by supplier sustainability assessments. The lead will coordinate supplier assessments across various procurement functions within the organization, including at the headquarters and field levels. The role requires collaboration with internal stakeholders, including the Sustainable Procurement Specialist and procurement teams, to drive continuous improvement in the sustainability of MSF's supplier base. The lead will also be responsible for developing and refining the sustainable procurement roadmap, particularly for field procurement, ensuring that MSF's sustainability goals are met effectively and efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Supplier Sustainability Assessment Lead will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
  • Reviewing and completing the existing supplier assessment roadmap, which involves maintaining a mapping exercise to identify targeted suppliers based on spend, risks, and criticality.
  • Aligning with procurement stakeholders to determine the best timing and approach for engaging with targeted suppliers.
  • Communicating MSF's sustainability approach to suppliers and encouraging them to undergo assessments based on defined criteria.
  • Following up on the progress of assessments and providing necessary support, including regular training sessions.
  • Collaborating with the Field procurement community to collect needs and expectations regarding sustainable procurement and refining targets for Field suppliers.
  • Supporting suppliers in developing corrective action plans based on assessment results and monitoring their progress.
  • Maintaining data on supplier sustainability assessments and ensuring that the Field procurement scope is represented in the overall reporting framework.
  • Identifying trends in the supplier base, including best practices and areas for improvement, and escalating any risks identified during the implementation process.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Supplier Sustainability Assessment Lead position should possess a strong understanding of sustainability practices within procurement. They should have excellent communication skills to effectively engage with suppliers and internal stakeholders. A proven ability to work collaboratively across various teams and departments is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate analytical skills to assess supplier performance and identify areas for improvement. Familiarity with sustainability assessment tools and methodologies is highly desirable, as is experience in project management and strategic planning.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, sustainability, business administration, or supply chain management is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in sustainability or procurement are advantageous and may enhance a candidate's qualifications for this role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or sustainability roles. Experience working in international organizations or humanitarian settings is preferred, as is familiarity with supplier sustainability assessment processes and tools. Proven track record in managing projects and driving change within organizations is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within MSF. Proficiency in French or other languages relevant to MSF's operational regions is considered a strong asset and may enhance a candidate's suitability for the position.

This position is a fixed-term contract for a duration of 16 months, with a starting date of 18.03.202
  • The role is full-time and may be based in any MSF office, depending on the candidate's country of residence at the time of application.
