The RCO in Pakistan is focused on data management and results reporting to facilitate the tracking of progress towards the SDGs.

Job Overview:
The Data Assistant Intern position is designed for individuals who are eager to gain practical experience in data management within the context of the United Nations. Interns will work under the supervision of the Data Management and Results Reporting Officer, contributing to the UNInfo system and supporting the collection, compilation, and organization of SDG-related data. The role emphasizes the importance of accuracy and completeness in data entry, as well as the ability to create visual representations of data for reporting purposes. They will collect, compile, and organize SDG-related data for both federal and provincial levels, creating visualizations to track progress. Verification and validation of data will be crucial to ensure consistency with reporting guidelines. Interns will assist in updating and maintaining data for UN programs and activities, generate reports and visualizations for the UNInfo system, and coordinate with relevant teams to gather missing data and resolve discrepancies. Additionally, they will assist in organizing and documenting UN Data Group meetings and the Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Group (PMEL), which includes preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action points. Other data-related tasks may be assigned by the supervisor as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data entry tools, and database management is essential. Candidates should also have the ability to produce data-driven maps and visuals using ARCH GIS or other mapping tools, and knowledge of data visualization and reporting tools is expected. Experience in meeting coordination, note-taking, and documentation is desirable, along with the ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently.

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent is necessary, which indicates that candidates should have a solid foundation in relevant fields such as data management, statistics, or social sciences.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for this position is primarily academic, as the internship is targeted towards students or recent graduates. While prior experience in data management or related fields is beneficial, it is not mandatory. However, any experience in meeting coordination, documentation, or data visualization will be considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for the internship programme, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as it is another working language of the UN. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an advantage, depending on the specific needs of the team.
