Job Overview: The Grants & Partnerships Coordinator is a crucial role within the organization, responsible for developing and monitoring the partnership and financial strategies for the country office in Myanmar. This position ensures high levels of interdepartmental coordination in grant management and provides strategic support on donor relations, external representation, implementing partner management, compliance, and accountability. The role faces significant challenges, including the gradual re-establishment of expatriate access to the country, ongoing restructuring within the mission, and the need to adapt to evolving funding and programming realities. The Coordinator will oversee the consolidation of the Grants department in Yangon and will be instrumental in training and empowering the team while managing a growing portfolio of partnerships.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Grants & Partnerships Coordinator will be responsible for several key activities, including:
Developing and implementing the mission's funding strategy and priorities, ensuring alignment with donor engagement plans.
Managing the closing of all grants related to the earthquake response and overseeing the restructuring of the Grants and Partnerships Department.
Monitoring and supporting the roll-out of the Localization Framework within the mission.
Harmonizing workflows with the Programs and Ethics & Compliance departments to ensure cohesive operations.
Providing strategic guidance on donor relations and ensuring compliance with external requirements.
Facilitating interdepartmental coordination and communication to enhance the effectiveness of grant management.
Leading a team of grants management professionals, fostering a culture of autonomy and innovation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong set of qualifications, including:
Proven experience in grants management, with a high level of understanding of donor intelligence and representation.
Demonstrated ability in proposal writing and coordination of proposal development.
Experience in managing and developing partnerships within the humanitarian sector.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
A solutions-oriented mindset with a focus on innovative approaches to challenges.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have an academic background that includes a Master's degree in Humanitarian Affairs, International Affairs, or a related field. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian programming and the operational environment in which SI operates.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 3 to 4 years in a similar position. This experience should include a strong focus on grants management and partnership development, demonstrating the ability to navigate the challenges of the humanitarian landscape effectively.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Proficiency in French is considered a strong asset due to the number of grants funded by French sources that require communication with stakeholders in Paris. Additionally, knowledge of Burmese is also a strong asset, facilitating better engagement with local partners and communities.

The role is based in Yangon, Myanmar, with occasional travel to operational bases within the country. The compensation package includes a gross monthly salary starting from EUR 2860, a monthly per diem of USD 600, and coverage for accommodation and travel expenses. Expatriates will also benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, dental, and repatriation costs. The organization implements a system of breaks, allowing for time off every three months, along with an additional rest day for each month worked. Living conditions in Yangon are reported to be good, with accommodation provided by SI.
