Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position at ECLAC is designed to provide students and recent graduates with practical experience in the field of international development cooperation. Interns will work in different divisions of ECLAC for a duration of six months, depending on the needs of the offices. The role is intended to support the Republic of Korea-ECLAC Cooperation Programme. Interns will engage in various tasks that align with their academic background and the specific requirements of the unit they are assigned to. Responsibilities may include conducting online research, preparing inputs for outputs related to the unit's work, and assisting in monitoring developments on assigned subjects. Interns will also gather information on cooperation strategies and attend relevant meetings and events, contributing to the overall mission of ECLAC.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will have a diverse set of responsibilities, which may include:
  • Supporting the assigned unit by conducting online research and preparing inputs for reports and outputs related to the unit's work.
  • Assisting in monitoring developments and issues on subjects or areas assigned by collecting, selecting, analyzing, and compiling materials from various sources, including databases, libraries, and the Internet.
  • Gathering information on cooperation strategies by countries, intergovernmental institutions, foundations, and other actors in development cooperation.
  • Attending meetings and events related to the work of the unit, providing support as needed.
  • Preparing briefings, talking points, and taking meeting minutes.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor or unit head, ensuring that the intern contributes effectively to the team's objectives.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the internship, candidates must meet specific criteria: a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). It is desirable for candidates to have studies in the area of International Development Cooperation. While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship type is necessary. Candidates must provide proof of their academic status, such as an official certificate, at a later stage of the application process.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a relevant academic program. This includes being a student in the final year of a first university degree (bachelor's or equivalent), or having completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program. Studies in International Development Cooperation are particularly desirable, as they align with the focus of the internship and the work of ECLAC.

Experience:
The internship does not require prior professional work experience. However, candidates should have a field of study that is closely related to the internship they are applying for. This allows interns to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting and gain valuable experience in the field of international development.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of Spanish is also required, as it is a working language of ECLAC. Additionally, knowledge of another UN official language is considered an advantage, enhancing the intern's ability to communicate and collaborate in a multilingual environment.
