Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the UNESCO Santiago Office in implementing national activities related to the Regional Plan for the Prevention and Addressing of Violence in Education and emergency education initiatives. The focus will be on ensuring school safety through a multi-risk approach, in alignment with the Regional Strategy for Education and Human Mobility. The consultant will be expected to engage with various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education and other relevant actors in the sector, to facilitate the effective execution of these initiatives. This position requires a proactive approach to planning, implementing, and monitoring educational activities that address the needs of vulnerable populations affected by emergencies and crises. The consultant will also contribute to the development of technical documents and reports that support the objectives of the consultancy.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's primary responsibilities will include:
Supporting the planning, implementation, and monitoring of national activities in Chile related to the Regional Plan for the Prevention and Addressing of Violence in Education.
Assisting in the implementation of UNESCO's emergency education actions in Chile, focusing on school safety from a multi-risk perspective, in coordination with the Regional Strategy for Education and Human Mobility.
Facilitating coordination within the education subsector on the R4V platform in Chile, including collaboration with institutional counterparts, UN agencies, and implementing partners.
Developing, reviewing, and supporting the production of technical and management documents for the section, such as concept notes, work plans, reports, newsletters, publications, and working documents.
Supporting other activities related to emergency education, school safety, education for sustainable development, and human mobility prioritized by the UNESCO Office in Chile to achieve the consultancy's objectives.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this consultancy include a university degree in education, public policy, sociology, psychology, or other relevant social sciences disciplines. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical, research, and information systematization skills. Excellent writing skills in both Spanish and English are essential, along with theoretical and practical knowledge of the thematic areas related to the consultancy. Interpersonal and communication skills in professional and multicultural environments are also required, as well as the ability to prepare and deliver presentations to diverse audiences. Candidates must be fluent in both Spanish and English, both orally and in writing.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree in a relevant field such as education, public policy, sociology, psychology, or other social sciences. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of the issues addressed in the consultancy and for effectively contributing to the objectives of the UNESCO Office in Santiago.
Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of proven professional experience in areas related to emergency education, educational inclusion, and human mobility is required. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to engage with various stakeholders and implement educational initiatives effectively. Experience working with international organizations and providing technical assistance to state agencies is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish and English is mandatory for this position, both in oral and written communication. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but Spanish and English are the primary languages required for effective communication within the role.
Additional Notes: The consultancy is expected to last from February to November 2026, totaling ten months. The consultant must reside in Chile during the contract period.
