Job Overview: The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security & Access Coordinator will work under the direct management of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and is responsible for adapting SI's safety and security framework to the evolving context in Ukraine. This role involves monitoring and reporting on the security situation, building staff capacity in security awareness and management, and fostering a strong security culture within the organization. The coordinator will also develop access strategies for all operational areas, both current and prospective. The position is crucial in ensuring that SI maintains high security management standards across its programs, especially in light of the ongoing conflict and the need for dynamic risk assessments. The role will also involve collaboration with local partners and contributing to SI's access strategy in specific regions such as Sumy oblast and Kherson city.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the Country Director in adapting the safety and security framework to the current context in Ukraine.
Monitor and report on the security situation, providing timely updates to the Country Director and relevant staff.
Develop and implement access strategies for operational areas, ensuring compliance with SI's security protocols.
Conduct dynamic risk assessments and ensure that security management standards are upheld throughout the country program.
Participate in capacity-building initiatives for local partners and staff, enhancing their understanding of security management.
Collaborate with Field Coordinators and other team members to ensure effective communication and coordination regarding security issues.
Engage in regular training sessions to promote a culture of security awareness within the organization.
Address security constraints and challenges, particularly in high-risk areas, to facilitate safe access for SI operations.
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 3-4 years in a similar position.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess and respond to security risks effectively.
Familiarity with standard security tools and protocols used in humanitarian operations.
Proven experience in capacity building and training staff on security management.
Excellent diplomatic and assertive communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Educational Background: A relevant degree in a field related to humanitarian aid, security management, or international relations is preferred. Additional certifications in security management or related areas will be considered an asset.
Experience: Candidates should have a solid background in the humanitarian sector, with a focus on security and access coordination. A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in similar roles is required, demonstrating a track record of effective security management in challenging environments.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Ukrainian or Russian is considered a strong asset, enhancing communication with local staff and partners.

The role is based in Kyiv, Ukraine, and involves a salaried position starting from EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of USD 700 is provided, along with accommodation costs and travel expenses covered by SI. The organization implements a break system, allowing for time off every three months, along with an additional rest day for each month worked. Expatriates are offered a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions in Kyiv are favorable, with access to amenities such as parks, restaurants, and supermarkets.
