Job Overview:
The Technical Advisor – Immunization will play a crucial role in the EpiC MNCH+N Mozambique project, which is focused on enhancing maternal, newborn, child health, immunization, and nutrition outcomes. This position will be seconded to the Mozambique Ministry of Health (MISAU), specifically within the Immunization Department. The advisor will work closely with the EpiC director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Director to provide technical support and guidance for the immunization strategy and its implementation. Responsibilities include contributing to policy and strategy development, ensuring alignment with international standards, and disseminating information to lower levels of MISAU staff. The advisor will also represent the MNCH+N project in key technical working group meetings, ensuring that the project remains aligned with MISAU's guidance on immunization activities, particularly focusing on high-impact practices and interventions. The role requires building MISAU's technical capacity at all levels, ensuring effective implementation of immunization services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Technical Advisor will be responsible for coordinating project representation with national government actors, particularly in health and other key sectors. They will collaborate with MISAU immunization department staff and other technical assistance partners to develop and update policies and strategies based on international care guidelines. The advisor will participate in central level immunization technical working groups, supporting MISAU's efforts and ensuring effective communication of information to the project. They will work with government counterparts to enhance their capacity for immunization supervision using approved standards and tools. Additionally, the advisor will provide technical expertise in implementing and monitoring immunization service delivery interventions at health facilities and community levels. They will synthesize immunization monitoring data and develop responsive programmatic activities for review by the project management team. The advisor will also contribute to the development of quarterly and annual reports, financial reports, and any other required documentation for the U.S. Department of State's Office of Foreign Assistance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, global health, social sciences, development studies, or a related field, with specialized training in immunization or health systems strengthening. A clinical background is strongly preferred, ideally with training as a medical doctor or nurse with advanced training in child health. Applicants should have at least 8 years of experience in immunization and public health programs, with proven experience working with the Ministry of Health (MISAU) and a solid understanding of national and provincial health systems and the national immunization program. The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with government staff and community stakeholders is essential.

Educational Background:
The position requires a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as public health, epidemiology, global health, social sciences, or development studies. Specialized training in immunization or health systems strengthening is also necessary. A clinical background, particularly as a medical doctor or nurse with advanced training in child health, is highly desirable.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in immunization and public health programs. Experience working with the Ministry of Health (MISAU) is crucial, along with a comprehensive understanding of the national immunization program and health systems at both national and provincial levels.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory for this position. Additionally, strong interpersonal and oral presentation skills in English are preferred, which will facilitate effective communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Maputo, Mozambique, and may require travel within the country, estimated at 10% to 25%. The job is full-time, and the successful candidate will be expected to work closely with both the MISAU and FHI 360 teams.
