Job Overview: The Outreach Specialist position at UN Women involves assisting in the planning and implementation of communications, outreach, and advocacy strategies to enhance the visibility and awareness of UN Women among partners, media, and the public. Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide substantive support to the planning and design of external communication and outreach/advocacy strategies, including the development of multi-pronged communication plans on EVAWG.
Coordinate the development and dissemination of advocacy materials, including drafting press releases and identifying storylines for publication.
Manage media relations by establishing relevant relationships, responding to inquiries, and organizing press events.
Build and maintain partnerships with donors and civil society organizations to enhance visibility and outreach.
Oversee the Country Office's online presence, including website content and social media management.
Facilitate knowledge sharing by synthesizing best practices and organizing training on communication and advocacy.
Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Master's degree (or equivalent) in communications, public relations, journalism, or a relevant field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Candidates should possess strong communication skills, knowledge of web-based management systems, and experience in social media outreach. Familiarity with gender and human rights issues is desirable, along with the ability to engage effectively with diverse constituencies.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a Master's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be considered. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of communication strategies and advocacy in the context of gender equality.
Experience: The position requires 0-2 years of professional work experience in public relations, communications, or advocacy. Experience in social media management and proficiency in office software packages are mandatory. Familiarity with web-based management systems and modern ERP systems, such as Oracle Cloud, is desirable but not required.
Languages: Fluency in English and Kyrgyz is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.
