Job Overview:
The Education Data Analyst position at UNICEF Egypt is crucial for enhancing evidence-based planning, monitoring, and policy development within the education sector. This role is integral to the Education Section's efforts to track sector performance and promote data-driven decision-making. The analyst will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing the Education Statistical Yearbooks for the academic years 2023/2024 and 2024/202
  • This involves ensuring the accuracy of translations from Arabic to English, mapping data against Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 indicators, and identifying gaps in the data. The findings will contribute to improving the Education Management Information System (EMIS) and ensuring stakeholders have access to reliable and actionable information. The position requires a strong analytical mindset and the ability to communicate findings effectively to various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review the English translations of the Education Statistical Yearbooks for 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 against the Arabic originals to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Map the data against SDG 4 indicators, assess progress, and identify gaps in the data.
  • Analyze both yearbooks to compare trends in key education indicators, such as class size, teacher–student ratios, completion rates, etc.
  • Prepare a detailed report summarizing the findings and present it to the Education Section.
  • Collaborate with other team members to enhance the overall quality of data collection and reporting processes.
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure that the data is utilized effectively for planning and advocacy purposes.
  • Identify areas for improvement in the Education Management Information System (EMIS) based on the analysis conducted.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with large datasets. Proficiency in data analysis software and tools is essential. Additionally, candidates should have excellent communication skills to present findings clearly and effectively. A strong understanding of the education sector and familiarity with SDG indicators will be advantageous. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage with various stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in education, statistics, data analysis, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role. Training in data management and analysis is also beneficial.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data analysis, preferably within the education sector or a related field. Experience working with statistical yearbooks or similar data reporting formats is highly desirable. Familiarity with the education landscape in Egypt and previous work with UNICEF or similar organizations will be considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in both Arabic and English is mandatory, as the role involves translating and analyzing documents in both languages. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an advantage but is not required.
