Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is part of the BIOFIN global team, which aims to enhance biodiversity management through financial solutions. The intern will report to the BIOFIN Knowledge Management Specialist and the PANORAMA Project Coordinator. The primary function of the intern is to support knowledge management and communication activities related to biodiversity finance. This includes researching and documenting BIOFIN implementation experiences, assisting in updating the BIOFIN Catalogue of Finance Solutions, and contributing to the development of knowledge products that analyze financing solutions for biodiversity conservation. The intern will also help organize events and webinars, maintain documentation, and support communication efforts through various media channels. This role provides an opportunity to gain insights into biodiversity finance and knowledge management practices while working in a multicultural environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Researching, analyzing, and documenting BIOFIN implementation experiences, collaborating with technical advisors and country coordinators to identify finance solutions for the PANORAMA platform.
Assisting in the addition of new entries and updates to the BIOFIN Catalogue of Finance Solutions.
Developing an inventory of global and regional publications and academic courses that reference BIOFIN.
Contributing to the creation of knowledge products that provide cross-country analysis and guidance materials for BIOFIN teams.
Synthesizing research outcomes and lessons learned into tailored formats for BIOFIN activities.
Supporting the organization of events, webinars, and meetings, and maintaining documentation of these events.
Assisting in BIOFIN and PANORAMA communications efforts, including writing blogs, articles, and managing social media presence.
Monitoring and analyzing media coverage of BIOFIN and updating relevant databases.
Collaborating with PANORAMA partner organizations through various activities. 1
Supporting other relevant or ad hoc activities as needed.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program (master's or higher).
Be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (bachelor's or equivalent).
Have recently graduated with a university degree and must start the internship within one year of graduation.
Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program. Previous related work experience is an asset, and excellent writing skills are required, demonstrated through prior professional or academic experience. Knowledge or experience in biodiversity, conservation, finance, and environmental areas is advantageous, as is familiarity with communication activities and social media platforms.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in a postgraduate degree program or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree program. Recent graduates who meet these criteria are also eligible to apply, provided they can start the internship within one year of graduation. The internship is designed to complement academic studies and provide practical experience in a relevant field.
Experience: The level of experience needed for this position includes previous related work experience, which is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate excellent writing skills through their academic or professional background. Experience or knowledge in biodiversity, conservation, finance, and environmental issues is beneficial, as well as familiarity with communication activities and social media platforms.
Languages: Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, fluency or knowledge of French and Spanish is highly desirable, while fluency in another UN language is considered an asset. These language skills will enhance the intern's ability to communicate effectively within the multicultural environment of UNDP and its partners.
Additional Notes: The internship is expected to last a minimum of 6 weeks and a maximum of 6 months. Interns will receive stipends according to UN rules and regulations starting from January 202
Any costs associated with the internship, such as travel, accommodation, and subsistence, must be borne by the intern or their sponsoring institution. Selected candidates must submit an official letter from their university confirming enrollment in a graduate-level program and proof of medical and life/accident insurance valid for the internship location. Interns are not considered staff members and cannot represent UNDP in any official capacity. They are responsible for arranging their own visa and residence documents well in advance. The internship is not intended to lead to further employment with UNDP, and there should be no expectation of employment at the end of the internship.
