Job Overview: The position of Psychologist at IOM Greece is crucial in addressing the mental health needs of unaccompanied migrant children (UMC) residing in Greece. The successful candidate will be part of a dedicated team focused on providing targeted care interventions to these vulnerable individuals. The role involves assessing the mental health of beneficiaries, conducting psychological assessments, and organizing both group and individual sessions for psychological support. Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide daily care and support to unaccompanied migrant children (UMC) in the assigned accommodation facility.
Assess the mental health of beneficiaries and conduct psychological assessments.
Organize and participate in group and individual sessions for psychological support.
Develop and implement activities and interventions aimed at informing and sensitizing UMCs.
Provide psychosocial support in collaboration with social workers or other multidisciplinary team members.
Refer UMCs to primary or secondary medical care based on their mental health status.
Undertake necessary actions as directed by the UMCs' person of reference, in accordance with IOM policies and local laws.
Conduct morning or afternoon shifts and be available for on-call night shifts and weekends.
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Required Qualifications:
University degree in Psychology from an accredited academic institution.
Minimum one year of relevant work experience is preferred.
Licensed Psychologist with a professional license to practice in Greece.
Familiarity with direct assistance to migrants and/or refugees is preferred.
Experience working in a multicultural environment is an advantage.
Computer literacy in standard software applications (e.g., MS Office) is considered an asset.
Valid driver’s license with at least five years of driving experience is an advantage.
Flexibility and capacity for conflict resolution, along with good communication skills, personal commitment, and efficiency are essential.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree in Psychology from an accredited institution. Accreditation is determined by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that the educational background meets international standards. A professional license to practice as a psychologist in Greece is mandatory for this position, reflecting the legal requirements for providing psychological services in the country.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least one year of relevant work experience in a similar role, preferably within an emergency accommodation facility operated by IOM or similar organizations.
