Job Overview:
The Maintenance Technician position is crucial for the effective operation of the Open Center, which supports voluntary return and reintegration measures. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the facility, ensuring that all premises are clean, safe, and well-maintained. This role requires a hands-on approach to perform regular maintenance tasks, manage minor repairs, and provide transport support using the IOM vehicle. The technician will work closely with the AVRR National Project Officer and the Project Associate to prioritize tasks based on operational needs, ensuring that the center operates smoothly and efficiently. The position demands a proactive attitude towards problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety within the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform regular maintenance and repair tasks within the Open Center, including installation and repair of electrical, hydraulic, and carpentry works.
  • Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the premises, coordinating with cleaning service providers as necessary.
  • Provide driving support for beneficiaries, ensuring safe transport to hospitals and public services.
  • Distribute food and non-food items to beneficiaries and escort them as needed.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including inventory management and stock checks.
  • Communicate regularly with the supervisor regarding work progress and any issues that arise.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree from a technical school or college in a relevant field such as plumbing, electrical systems, or networks technology. Alternatively, a high school diploma with at least two years of relevant work experience is acceptable. Candidates should have solid technical knowledge in plumbing and electrical systems, and experience working in a multicultural environment is advantageous. A valid driver's license with a minimum of five years of driving experience is also required.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have a degree from a technical school or college in a relevant field such as plumbing, electrical systems, or networks technology. A high school diploma with relevant work experience is also acceptable, demonstrating the ability to perform the required tasks effectively.

Experience:
Candidates should have previous experience in maintenance roles, particularly with solid technical knowledge in plumbing and electrical systems. Experience in a multicultural setting is preferred, as the role involves interaction with diverse groups. A valid driver's license and a minimum of five years of driving experience are essential for this position.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Greek is mandatory for this position, both oral and written. Knowledge of additional languages such as French or Spanish is considered an asset, as IOM operates in multiple languages and may require communication with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates with a valid residence and work permit for Greece will be considered. The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, with working hours from 12:00 to 20:3
