Job Overview: The Data and Analytics Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the preparation, integration, and reporting of organizational data within the Microsoft ecosystem. This position is essential for ensuring that data is accurate, consistent, and readily available for analytics and reporting purposes. The specialist will be expected to have familiarity with Dynamics 365 application objects and modules, including Finance & Operations (F&O) and Customer Engagement (CE), which are critical for supporting reporting and integration activities across enterprise systems. Additionally, knowledge of Microsoft Fabric as a unified data and analytics platform is vital for managing data pipelines, Lakehouse structures, and semantic models that facilitate advanced reporting and analytics. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improving data processes and enhancing reporting efficiency through automation.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Data and Analytics Specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks including:
Data Preparation & Curation: Performing data curation tasks such as cleaning, validating, and documenting datasets. Contributing to the creation of a basic data dictionary and maintaining metadata documentation. Identifying opportunities to improve data processes, reporting efficiency, and automation.
Data Extraction & Transformation: Developing and maintaining SQL queries and Spark scripts for data extraction and transformation. Assisting in maintaining pipelines, Lakehouse structures, and semantic models in Microsoft Fabric. Applying knowledge of Dynamics 365 application objects to ensure accurate data mapping and reporting.
Reporting & Visualization: Creating and maintaining reports in Dynamics 365, Power BI, and SSRS (RDLs). Supporting reporting and data extraction from Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations modules such as Finance, HR, Operations, and Warehouse Management. Supporting reporting and data extraction from Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement modules including Sales, Customer Service, and Marketing.
Automation & Integration: Designing and implementing Power Automate flows to streamline processes and trigger alerts. Managing SharePoint lists, libraries, and permissions to ensure secure and organized data storage. Collaborating on integration tasks between Dynamics 365 and other enterprise systems, ensuring data flows are consistent, secure, and documented.
Collaboration & Support: Working with senior engineers, analysts, and business teams to clarify requirements and deliver reliable solutions.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A proven track record in performing a similar role is essential, with a minimum of 4 years' experience in data analytics and reporting. The ideal candidate should have strong SQL skills, with the ability to design, write, and optimize queries for extracting and transforming data. Familiarity with Apache Spark at a basic level, including knowledge of Spark notebooks and distributed data processing concepts, is also required. Competence in managing SharePoint lists, libraries, and permissions is necessary, as well as the ability to design and deploy Power Automate flows for automation and integration. Basic skills in editing and deploying RDL files for SSRS are expected, along with experience in creating dashboards and reports in Dynamics 36
Proficiency in Power BI for data modeling, dashboards, and DAX expressions is also important. Awareness of Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse architecture and semantic models, is required, as is a basic understanding of Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and Customer Engagement modules.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding complex data systems and analytics tools, which are critical for the role of Data and Analytics Specialist.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role, demonstrating a proven track record in data analytics, reporting, and the use of relevant technologies. Candidates should have hands-on experience with SQL, data extraction and transformation, and familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 applications. Experience in managing data processes and automation is also essential.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language used in the organization and for reporting purposes. Knowledge of Spanish is considered a good to have, given the location of the organization and its operations in Mexico.
