Job Overview:
The Monitoring and Reporting Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the project team in tracking progress across multiple donor-funded interventions, particularly under the LAF Livelihood Ecosystem Initiative and the Lebanon Mine Action Programme (LMAP). This position involves regular field visits to collect data and ensure that project implementation aligns with objectives and donor requirements. The assistant will contribute to the development and maintenance of a project dashboard, ensuring real-time visibility of key performance indicators and operational milestones. The role also includes documenting lessons learned and challenges to inform adaptive programming and strategic decision-making, ensuring accountability to donors through regular updates and evidence-based reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Monitoring and Reporting Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Conducting field monitoring visits, particularly in the South, to assess project implementation and collect qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Compiling and integrating data from various sources into centralized project databases to support data validation and performance tracking.
  • Monitoring data quality throughout its lifecycle, conducting verification and validation exercises to identify discrepancies, and ensuring datasets meet reporting standards.
  • Coordinating with colleagues and stakeholders to resolve data issues and maintain data integrity.
  • Performing data cleaning, transformation, and preparation for analysis using tools like Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
  • Assisting in drafting and maintaining information sharing and analytical products, such as dashboards and situation reports.
  • Supporting the analysis of monitoring data to generate insights on project performance and areas for improvement.
  • Assisting in periodic organizational and donor reporting processes, including data entry and validation on relevant platforms.
  • Performing related duties as assigned to support regular and ad-hoc Monitoring and Reporting needs.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Proficiency in data analysis and management is essential, along with experience in monitoring and reporting processes. Familiarity with project management principles and practices is also required. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a commitment to the values and mission of UNDP, including a focus on sustainable development and social equity.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, statistics, data management, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, or project management would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, data collection, or project management. Experience working in a humanitarian or development context, particularly in Lebanon or similar environments, is highly desirable. Familiarity with UNDP's mission and operations will be considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable. Knowledge of French or other languages may be considered an advantage, particularly in enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Beirut, Lebanon. The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position offers a Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of USD 1,606.58, along with annual and learning leaves, medical and life insurance, and free access to various learning platforms. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adapt to the local culture and traditions.
