Job Overview: The Project Associate will play a crucial role in the coordination and execution of the project titled 'Building Resilient Future for Migration-Prone Populations in Georgia.' This project aims to strengthen migration governance in Georgia by establishing strategic partnerships with the private sector and promoting innovative solutions that address migration challenges. The Project Associate will work under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Project Manager, ensuring that project activities align with established work plans and respond effectively to changing field conditions. The role requires meticulous planning, organization, and monitoring of interventions, as well as regular analysis of implementation difficulties to recommend necessary adjustments. The Project Associate will also be responsible for compiling and presenting relevant information on national and international developments related to migration, ensuring that the project remains informed and responsive to emerging issues.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Associate will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Leading and coordinating the implementation of project activities, ensuring adherence to established plans and timelines.
Monitoring budget expenditures and maintaining accurate records of project budgets and revisions.
Planning and conducting capacity-building workshops for internal and external stakeholders.
Liaising with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate effective project implementation.
Preparing correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, and narrative and financial reports, ensuring timely submission.
Identifying and documenting best practices and lessons learned, contributing to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and new project proposals.
Supervising and providing guidance to reporting staff, ensuring their professional development and effective performance.
Performing other related duties as assigned by the Project Manager or Chief of Mission.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a school diploma with seven years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution, along with five years of relevant professional experience. Accredited institutions are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Additionally, candidates should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities and international organizations, as well as working with vulnerable groups such as migrants and refugees. Experience in labor migration and skills development is considered an advantage, as is prior work with international humanitarian organizations in multicultural settings.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes either a school diploma with extensive relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law. The degree must be from an accredited academic institution recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have a solid foundation in the principles and practices related to migration and development.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have significant experience in relevant fields, specifically in liaising with governmental authorities, national and international institutions, and UN agencies. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable populations. Experience in labor migration and skills development is advantageous, as is prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or NGOs in a multicultural environment. This experience is essential for understanding the complexities of migration governance and the challenges faced by migrant populations.
Languages: Fluency in English and Georgian is mandatory for this position, both oral and written. IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish, but proficiency in English and Georgian is specifically required to effectively communicate and collaborate with local stakeholders and project partners.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, meaning that only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Georgia will be considered. The appointment will be contingent upon medical fitness certification and verification of residency and work authorization. The selection process may also be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar roles for a period of 24 months.
