Job Overview:
The Communications Assistant for HMA will play a crucial role in promoting the mission, mandate, and advocacy strategies of DRC Sudan’s Humanitarian Disarmament & Peacebuilding (HDP) Team. This position requires close collaboration with the HDP team to identify effective communication methods targeting relevant parties, with a strong emphasis on social media activities across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn. The overall purpose of the role is to develop and implement creative campaigns and content that resonate with both professional and non-professional audiences in Sudan and globally. The assistant will be responsible for maintaining a social media content strategy, engaging with online audiences, and producing analytical reports to monitor content performance. This position is vital for enhancing DRC's visibility and impact in the region, particularly in light of the ongoing political and social challenges faced by the country.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the Communications Assistant include: assisting in the development and implementation of creative campaigns and content for various channels; writing copy and producing messages, stories, videos, photos, radio broadcasts, infographics, and animations; developing engaging content that appeals to diverse audiences; maintaining a weekly updated social media calendar; contributing to global campaigns and donor communications; actively engaging with online audiences and responding to messages and comments; producing monthly analytical reports on content performance; maintaining a database of relevant youth organizations and social media influencers; developing terms of reference for collaborations; coordinating with influencers, animators, writers, and editors; identifying key communications and visibility needs; ensuring quality and content of public information documents; assisting with media liaison and coordination; and drafting press releases, feature stories, factsheets, and opinion pieces in both Arabic and possibly English.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess at least one year of experience in a similar role, preferably within an NGO setting. Strong computer and digital skills are essential, including proficiency in Office, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Canva. Advanced proficiency in English is desirable, along with fluency in Arabic. The candidate must demonstrate DRC’s core competencies, which include striving for excellence, collaborating effectively, taking the lead in initiatives, communicating clearly, and demonstrating integrity in all professional conduct.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a diploma in graphic design, filmmaking, communications, public relations, or an equivalent professional qualification. This educational background is crucial for understanding the nuances of communication and media production relevant to the role.

Experience:
A minimum of one year’s experience in a communications role is required, with a preference for candidates who have worked in non-governmental organizations. This experience should include familiarity with social media platforms and content creation.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is mandatory, while a good command of written and spoken English is desired. Proficiency in both languages will enable effective communication with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
