Job Overview: The Volunteer Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the UNDP Armenia and Tech4R initiative, which is focused on developing a modular disaster data collection toolkit utilizing Kobo Toolbox and other open-source platforms. The volunteer will assist in coordinating various phases of the project, ensuring that each stage is executed smoothly and on time. This role involves working closely with technical volunteer teams and facilitating communication between the Tech4R team, the Armenia Country Office, and the volunteers. The volunteer will also be responsible for supporting project management and reporting, ensuring that the project aligns with local needs and contexts, particularly in relation to disaster resilience planning.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Volunteer Project Coordinator include:
Assisting in the coordination of project sprints to ensure timely delivery and smooth transitions between project phases.
Overseeing and guiding volunteers who are working on various aspects of the project, including forms, dashboards, GIS, AI, and documentation.
Supporting localization efforts to ensure that the tools developed are adapted to the Armenian context and meet local needs.
Assisting in drafting progress reports, capturing lessons learned throughout the project, and recommending improvements based on findings.
Facilitating knowledge sharing and capacity building initiatives for local authorities to enhance their understanding and capabilities in disaster resilience.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this volunteer position should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. The candidate should also have a proactive approach to problem-solving and be adaptable to changing circumstances. Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies, as well as experience in disaster management or resilience planning, would be advantageous. Additionally, the candidate should have a strong commitment to the values of the UN and a passion for community service and development.
Educational Background: Candidates should ideally have a background in fields related to international development, project management, disaster management, or a related area. A degree in social sciences, environmental studies, or a similar discipline would be beneficial. However, relevant experience and skills may also be considered in lieu of formal educational qualifications.
Experience: While this is a volunteer position, prior experience in project coordination, particularly in the context of international development or disaster management, is highly desirable. Experience working with diverse teams and stakeholders, as well as familiarity with digital tools and platforms, will be advantageous for the candidate.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the UNDP and Tech4R teams. Proficiency in Armenian is also essential to ensure effective communication and localization of project tools. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the local context.
