Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position is designed to support UNDP's policy research and analysis efforts in Indonesia. The volunteer will work under the strategic direction of a Development Economist and will be involved in various tasks aimed at enhancing UNDP's understanding of the country's macroeconomic landscape. This role includes providing research and analytical inputs on macroeconomic trends, structural challenges, and strategic policy developments that are crucial for informing UNDP's operations. The volunteer will also assist in preparing policy briefs and discussion papers on significant issues such as sustainable development, green transition, and the impact of artificial intelligence on inclusive development. The position requires active participation in team meetings and collaboration with national counterparts to strengthen capacities in policy formulation and budget planning.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteer will have several key responsibilities, including:
  • Conducting research and providing analytical inputs on Indonesia's macroeconomic trends and structural economic challenges.
  • Supporting the preparation of policy briefs and discussion papers on relevant development issues.
  • Assisting in tracking and summarizing key national economic indicators to inform programming and policy discussions.
  • Supporting policy advocacy efforts by preparing knowledge materials such as summaries, blog drafts, and briefing notes.
  • Assisting in organizing and documenting policy-related events and discussions involving UNDP and its partners.
  • Engaging in continuous feedback sessions to ensure alignment with the agreed work plan and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Online Volunteer position should possess strong research and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information into clear and concise materials. Familiarity with macroeconomic concepts and development issues in Indonesia is essential. The ideal candidate should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in using research tools and software is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A background in economics, development studies, public policy, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates should ideally be pursuing or have completed a degree at the undergraduate or graduate level in one of these areas, demonstrating a solid understanding of economic principles and development challenges.

Experience:
While prior experience in a similar role is beneficial, it is not mandatory.
