Job Overview:
The position involves providing professional engineering services under a Long-Term Agreement (LTA) as required. The assignment is home-based, which provides the opportunity for remote work while contributing to UNDP's initiatives in Uganda. The engineers will be expected to deliver high-quality services that align with UNDP's goals and standards. The position is renewable yearly, subject to satisfactory performance, with a maximum duration of two years. This role is crucial for supporting UNDP's projects and ensuring that engineering solutions are effectively implemented to meet the needs of the communities served.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Providing technical expertise in engineering disciplines relevant to UNDP projects.
• Conducting assessments and evaluations of engineering needs for various initiatives.
• Developing and reviewing engineering designs, plans, and specifications.
• Collaborating with project teams to ensure that engineering solutions are integrated into project planning and execution.
• Preparing reports and documentation related to engineering activities and project progress.
• Ensuring compliance with UNDP standards and regulations in all engineering work.
• Participating in project meetings and providing updates on engineering-related matters.
• Offering recommendations for improvements and innovations in engineering practices within the context of UNDP projects.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong set of qualifications to be considered for this position. This includes a relevant degree in engineering or a related field, with a focus on areas such as civil, mechanical, electrical, or environmental engineering. Additionally, candidates should have a proven track record of delivering engineering services in a development context, demonstrating both technical proficiency and an understanding of the challenges faced in such environments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting. Candidates should also exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Educational Background:
