Job Overview:
The position of Website Developer Volunteer at CCID is crucial for enhancing the organization's online presence and community engagement. The volunteer will be responsible for designing and building a user-friendly, informative, and visually appealing website that aligns with CCID's mission and objectives. This website will serve as a key communication tool, facilitating resource sharing and advocacy efforts. The role requires collaboration with CCID team members to gather and organize content, implement a content management system (CMS), optimize the website for search engines, and create an intuitive user experience. The volunteer will also provide training and ongoing support to CCID staff, ensuring they can manage and update the website effectively. Additionally, the volunteer will set up analytics tools to monitor website performance and suggest improvements based on user engagement data.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design and build a responsive website that reflects CCID’s branding and mission.
  • Ensure the website is user-friendly and accessible across various devices.
  • Collaborate with CCID team members to gather and organize relevant content for the website.
  • Implement a content management system (CMS) that allows for easy updates and maintenance by staff.
  • Optimize the website for search engines to enhance visibility and reach, including on-page SEO practices such as keyword integration and meta tags.
  • Create an intuitive navigation structure to improve user experience.
  • Conduct user testing to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments to the website.
  • Provide training to CCID staff on managing and updating the website.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong background in web development and design, with proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other relevant programming languages.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Joomla, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and techniques for optimizing website visibility.
  • Familiarity with user experience (UX) design principles and practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and communicate effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • A passion for community development and a commitment to CCID’s mission.

Educational Background:
A degree in web development, computer science, graphic design, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Relevant certifications or proven experience in web development and design will also be considered.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have prior experience in web development and design, with a portfolio showcasing previous projects. Experience working with non-profit organizations or community development initiatives is a plus, as it demonstrates an understanding of the unique challenges and needs of such organizations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Proficiency in French is a plus, given the bilingual nature of Cameroon, and would enhance communication with a broader audience.
