Job Overview:
The Associate Programme Management Officer position is crucial for supporting the implementation of a European Union-funded project aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and solidarity to mitigate disaster impacts and humanitarian needs in West Africa. This role is based in the UNDRR Sub-Regional Office for West Africa located in Abuja, Nigeria. The officer will report to both the Head of the Sub-Regional Office in Abuja and the Early Warning and Risk Knowledge Coordinator at the UNDRR Regional Office for Africa in Nairobi. The primary focus of this position is to assist in the development and consultation processes for a policy framework that establishes a regional disaster preparedness and response mechanism in West Africa. The officer will also be responsible for organizing and facilitating training workshops, seminars, and expert exchanges, as well as developing training materials and project reports. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining regular communication with implementing partners and beneficiaries, including the Economic Commission for West African States (ECOWAS) and the AGRHYMET Regional Climate Centre, to ensure effective collaboration and project success.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Programme Management Officer include supporting the implementation of the project titled 'Strengthening Regional Cooperation and Solidarity to Reduce Disaster Impacts and Humanitarian Needs in West Africa.' This involves assisting in the development and consultation process for a policy framework aimed at establishing a regional disaster preparedness and response mechanism. The officer will also support the organization and execution of training workshops, seminars, and expert exchanges, making presentations on assigned topics and contributing to the development of training materials. Additionally, the officer will aid in the creation of project reports, policy documents for the regional cooperation mechanism, and related action plans for operationalization, while organizing consultations and meetings. The role also entails maintaining and strengthening regular contact with other implementing partners and beneficiaries, including ECOWAS and the AGRHYMET Regional Climate Centre, to ensure effective collaboration and communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications:
