Job Overview: This internship is designed to provide practical experience in the field of human resources, specifically focusing on mental health strategy implementation. The intern will work closely with the Mental Health Strategy Implementation Lead and the Mental Health & Wellbeing Strategic team. The role involves supporting various initiatives aimed at enhancing workplace mental health within the UN Secretariat. The intern will gain insights into the operations of the UN and contribute to meaningful projects that impact the well-being of employees. The position is expected to last for three months, starting on January 5, 2026, and will involve tasks that require attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with different stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the Mental Health Strategy team. These include:
Updating and maintaining mental health strategy SharePoint records and files, ensuring that all information is accurate and confidential.
Preparing materials for presentations by the mental health strategy team, which may involve creating slides and other visual aids.
Compiling content for the Healthy Workforce platform and website, coordinating with relevant departments to ensure smooth workflow and timely updates.
Assisting in the editing of technical documents, tracking changes to ensure clarity and accuracy.
Supporting the coordination and launch of mental health stigma events, working alongside the mental health strategy project manager and other stakeholders.
Creating a repository of best practices for workplace mental health engagement, which will serve as a resource for the Secretariat.
Attending mental health strategy meetings and summarizing discussions and outcomes to facilitate decision-making.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). A background in human resources, psychology, public administration, or related fields is desirable. While professional work experience is not required for this internship, applicants must have a field of study closely related to the internship they are applying for. Additionally, applicants should possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Teams.
Educational Background: Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor's or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master's or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion will be required during the application process. The educational background should ideally include exposure to human resources, psychology, public administration, or similar disciplines, which will enhance the intern's ability to contribute effectively to the team.
