Job Overview:
The Education Officer position involves providing technical support for the planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of interventions aimed at out-of-school children. The role focuses on innovative non-formal education interventions, particularly multi-grade multi-level education, catch-up, and remedial education, to assist marginalized children in re-entering the mainstream education system. The officer will collaborate with government ministries and civil society organizations to develop community-driven, evidence-based solutions and integrate these approaches into national systems. The position also entails supporting multi-donor projects for out-of-school children, ensuring that evidence informs design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and delivery, and promoting effective programming through technical, operational, and analytical support.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support Programme Development and Planning: Assist in the design and planning of education programs targeting out-of-school children, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's mission and objectives.
  • Programme Management, Monitoring and Delivery of Results: Oversee the implementation of education interventions, monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes to ensure effective delivery of results.
  • Technical and Operational Support to Programme Implementation: Provide guidance and support to partners and stakeholders in the execution of education programs, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
  • Networking and Partnership Building: Establish and maintain partnerships with government entities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance collaboration and resource sharing.
  • Innovation, Knowledge Management and Capacity Building: Promote innovative approaches to education, facilitate knowledge sharing, and build the capacity of local partners to sustain education initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in education, social sciences, development studies, or relevant technical fields. A minimum of two years of professional experience in planning and managing education programs for out-of-school children is required. Candidates should have a technical understanding of non-formal primary education, multi-grade multi-level education, and competency-based education. Experience in family and community engagement, as well as participatory monitoring and learner mainstreaming, is essential. Familiarity with catch-up and remedial education strategies is also required.

Educational Background:
A university degree in education, social sciences, development studies, or other relevant technical fields is mandatory for this position. The degree must be from an institution accredited or recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in planning and managing education programs specifically targeting out-of-school children. Candidates should have a strong technical understanding of various educational methodologies and frameworks relevant to non-formal education.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile.
