Job Overview: The Investment Officer for Real Estate will play a crucial role in managing and investing the assets of the UNJSPF in global real estate markets. This position is integral to the Real Estate Team within the Private Markets Section, reporting directly to the Senior Investment Officer (SIO). The incumbent will be responsible for conducting thorough investment analysis, balancing long-term strategic goals with short-term performance objectives, and ensuring compliance with risk control parameters. The role requires a strong understanding of commercial real estate markets and the ability to integrate principles of responsible investment into the analysis. The incumbent will also be expected to conduct portfolio reviews, present findings in meetings, and explore opportunities in publicly traded REITs to diversify the Fund’s portfolio. This position demands a proactive approach to investment research and the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Senior Investment Officer in managing the Fund's assets in global real estate markets, providing analysis for pre-investment due diligence.
Balance long-term strategic goals with short-term performance objectives through dedicated market research and portfolio analysis.
Monitor assigned portfolio holdings and conduct security analysis as directed by the SIO.
Comply with risk control parameters outlined in the investments Policy and Procedures Manual to optimize investment returns while avoiding undue risk.
Integrate Principles of Responsible Investments into investment analysis and monitor holdings according to OIM's fiduciary standards.
Conduct periodic portfolio reviews and present findings in Portfolio Review Meetings.
Utilize risk and analytical tools for portfolio analysis.
Explore opportunities in publicly traded REITs to complement the Fund’s private real estate portfolio.
Conduct thorough investment research and analysis of potential real estate investments. 1

Evaluate the quality of advice from the Fund's Advisor and appraise external managers' performance. 1

Prepare accurate and timely reports for the Representative of the Secretary-General and the CIO of OIM. 1
Promote transparency and accountability in asset management through diligent record-keeping. 1
Be prepared to travel domestically and internationally at least once a month.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of investing in commercial real estate markets and private equity investment structures. They should demonstrate proficiency in portfolio management, applied economics, financial modeling, and financial statement analysis. Familiarity with valuation analysis and financial tools such as Bloomberg and Pitchbook is essential. Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint are required. Candidates should also have experience in analyzing publicly traded REIT investments and be able to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a high level of integrity and professionalism.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Economics, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) is desirable.
Experience: A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in quantitative and qualitative investment analysis in commercial real estate markets is required. Experience in investment management within commercial real estate is desirable, as is experience working at an Institutional Investor Organization such as pension funds, endowments, or foundations.
Languages: English is required for this position, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is also a working language of the United Nations, but English is the primary requirement for this role.
