Job Overview: The Grants Adviser position is designed to provide advanced grant management support to the Grants Manager and the implementation and operations team. The primary focus of this role is to ensure the delivery of timely and high-quality proposal development, while also identifying funding opportunities. The Grants Adviser will play a crucial role in effective grants management, ensuring compliance with both internal and donor requirements, and facilitating timely reporting. This position is integral to keeping NRC's program and support teams informed about relevant donor compliance regulations and NRC procedures. The Grants Adviser will manage donor and external reporting, coordinate grant revisions, and support donor communication by establishing effective channels for internal and external communications related to grants. Additionally, the role involves completing key mandatory activities under NRC’s Project Cycle Management (PCM) framework and fostering a culture of accountability and high performance within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Grants Adviser will have a wide range of responsibilities, including adherence to NRC policies and procedures, maintaining an overview of all grants and donor requirements, and leading the development of concept notes, proposals, and reports in collaboration with program and support teams. The role requires setting up and improving internal grant management systems, documenting and sharing learning from proposal and reporting processes, and representing NRC with partners and donors. Specific responsibilities include organizing proposal planning meetings, building relationships with other teams, ensuring donor compliance, coordinating donor reporting, and monitoring grant payment schedules. The Grants Adviser will also be responsible for maintaining high standards of information management and filing systems, assisting the Grants Manager with administrative tasks, and ensuring accurate maintenance of grants and funding trackers.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Grants Adviser position should possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role within a humanitarian or recovery context, particularly with institutional humanitarian and development donors. A Bachelor's degree in Economics, Communications, International Development, or a related field is required, while a Master's degree is considered an asset.
