Job Overview:
The National Junior legal data compliance consultant position is designed for individuals who will assist in ensuring that legal data compliance standards are met within the UNDP framework. The consultant will be responsible for analyzing legal data, ensuring compliance with national and international regulations, and providing recommendations for improvements. This role requires a strong understanding of legal frameworks and data protection laws, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. The consultant will be expected to deliver high-quality outputs within a specified timeframe, contributing to the overall mission of UNDP in Lebanon. The assignment is set for a period of 75 days spread over 5 months from the contract signature date, indicating a flexible working arrangement that allows for thorough engagement with the tasks at hand.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including but not limited to: conducting thorough assessments of existing legal data compliance practices, identifying gaps and areas for improvement, and developing comprehensive reports outlining findings and recommendations. The consultant will also be responsible for collaborating with UNDP staff and external partners to ensure that all legal data practices align with both local and international standards. Additionally, the consultant may be required to participate in training sessions and workshops aimed at enhancing the understanding of legal compliance among UNDP staff. Regular communication with the Procurement Unit and adherence to the guidelines set forth in the UNDP procurement process will also be essential.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in law, particularly in areas related to data protection and compliance. A thorough understanding of both national and international legal frameworks is essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly. Proficiency in legal research and the ability to draft legal documents and reports are also required. Familiarity with UNDP's operational procedures and procurement processes will be considered an asset.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in law or a related field is required. Advanced degrees such as a Master’s in Law or a specialization in data protection law will be highly regarded. Candidates should have completed relevant coursework or training that emphasizes legal compliance and data management.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of relevant experience in legal consulting, compliance, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations or in a governmental context will be advantageous. Demonstrated experience in legal data analysis and compliance assessments is preferred, as well as familiarity with UNDP's operational frameworks.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory, as the role requires effective communication with local stakeholders and international partners. Knowledge of French or other languages will be considered a plus, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.

This position is classified as an individual contractor role, which means it is not a permanent position within UNDP. The contract duration is for 75 days, spread over a period of 5 months, allowing for flexibility in work hours and location.
