Job Overview:
The Finance Assistant plays a crucial role in managing cash movements, particularly in making payments to program beneficiaries in the field. This position supports the Finance Officer in ensuring high-quality documentation and adherence to financial procedures. The Finance Assistant is responsible for maintaining accurate records of cash transactions, ensuring compliance with DRC's financial policies, and managing the cash box. The role requires meticulous attention to detail, as the Finance Assistant must produce a computerized cash book that reflects real-time cash movements. Additionally, the Finance Assistant is tasked with ensuring security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security standards for cash movements and performing regular cash counts to maintain financial integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance Assistant's duties include handling documentation and vouchers, making cash payments to beneficiaries such as internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees, and being accountable for the cash box. The role involves following DRC's financial procedures, managing money transfers and exchanges, and conducting daily, weekly, and monthly cash counts. The Finance Assistant must produce a computerized cash book that accurately reflects cash movements in and out of the cash box and safe. Responsibilities also include withdrawing cash from the bank as needed, ensuring security for cash movements, checking the quality of vouchers weekly, ensuring timely clearance of staff advances, and maintaining an organized filing system for financial documents. The Finance Assistant must also perform scheduled and unscheduled cash counts and ensure that all financial supporting documents are complete and properly coded.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the Finance Assistant position, candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in a finance role within a non-governmental organization (NGO). Experience working with an international NGO for at least one year is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate good financial management and record-keeping skills, as well as the ability to follow organizational policies and procedures effectively. Strong communication skills and the ability to work under time constraints while taking initiative are essential for success in this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates are typically required to have a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or a related field. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is also required to perform the duties of the Finance Assistant effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional work experience, with at least 1 year in a finance role within an international NGO. Candidates should have a solid understanding of financial management practices and experience in maintaining accurate financial records.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, along with proficiency in Pashto and Dari. These language skills are essential for effective communication with beneficiaries and colleagues in the field.
