Job Overview:
The logistics-officer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Officer position is crucial for ensuring that the Norwegian Refugee Council's operations run smoothly and efficiently in Amman. This role involves overseeing compliance with NRC's policies and procedures, identifying gaps in logistics processes, and implementing improvements. The Logistics Officer will monitor team activities to ensure they align with quality standards, budget constraints, and donor guidelines. Additionally, the officer will support staff development by identifying training needs and providing technical support. The position requires a proactive approach to daily operational logistics, including the preparation of reports and the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs). The Logistics Officer will also contribute to the implementation of Safe and Inclusive Programming Minimum Standards across their area of responsibility, ensuring that all logistics functions are performed effectively and ethically.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: ensuring compliance with NRC policies and procedures; identifying and analyzing key processes and gaps in logistics activities; monitoring team progress and quality of output; supporting staff in their professional development; conducting daily operational logistics activities; preparing logistic reports; developing SOPs; ensuring proper filing of support documents; promoting ideas for improvement; receiving and verifying procurement requests; conducting procurement processes in line with guidelines; organizing tender committees; maintaining procurement documentation; updating Procurement Plans; tracking contracts and suppliers; handling petty cash for local procurement; and establishing professional relationships with suppliers while adhering to NRC's anti-corruption guidelines. The officer will also perform other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a logistics or procurement role within a humanitarian or recovery context. Previous experience in complex and volatile environments is essential, along with documented results related to the position's responsibilities. Candidates should have a strong understanding of logistics policies from major donors and knowledge of logistics in the Middle East, particularly in Palestine and Israel. Fluency in both Arabic and English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position.

Educational Background:
A university degree in Supply Chain Management or a relevant field is required for the Logistics Officer position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding logistics processes and procurement procedures in a humanitarian context.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in logistics or procurement, particularly in a middle management role within a humanitarian or recovery setting. Experience in complex and volatile contexts is highly valued, as it demonstrates the ability to navigate challenging environments effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory for this position, as effective communication in both languages is essential for coordinating logistics activities and collaborating with diverse stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.

Additional Notes:
The position is full-time and based in Amman, Jordan. The Logistics Officer will be expected to work closely with various stakeholders, including budget holders, implementation staff, technical advisors, and external suppliers.
