Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participating in sectoral needs assessments and engaging with stakeholders to prioritize the shelter needs of vulnerable populations.

  • Monitoring and evaluating shelter programs, identifying gaps, and initiating responses in collaboration with UNHCR technical staff and partners.
  • Coordinating with other sectors such as water and sanitation, education, and health to ensure synchronized implementation of shelter solutions.
  • Supporting the procurement process for construction projects, including drafting bid documents and evaluating bids.
  • Engaging with local authorities and communities to ensure their participation in shelter and settlement programs.
  • Managing risks and opportunities related to shelter interventions and ensuring effective decision-making.
  • Performing other related duties as required to support the overall objectives of the UNHCR operation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong academic background in fields such as architecture, civil engineering, or construction management. Essential qualifications include hands-on technical experience in emergency assistance delivery, knowledge of SPHERE standards, and proficiency in using survey equipment and software such as AutoCAD. Familiarity with UNHCR's operational modalities and humanitarian architecture is desirable. The role requires excellent drafting and documentation skills, as well as computer literacy to manage technical documentation and project management tools effectively.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Candidates with a Master's degree or Doctorate in these fields may also be considered, particularly if they have relevant experience in shelter and infrastructure projects. Experience:
