Job Overview:
The Senior IT Assistant position is crucial for the effective functioning of the IT infrastructure within the UNHCR office in Amman. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of a Senior Officer and the technical supervision of an IT Officer, playing a vital role in ensuring that the IT systems and services meet the operational needs of the office. This position requires a proactive approach to managing and maintaining IT resources, including hardware and software, and ensuring that all systems are operational and efficient. The Senior IT Assistant will also be responsible for training UNHCR staff on various IT systems and tools, thereby enhancing the overall technological proficiency within the organization. The role demands a strong understanding of UNHCR's operational context and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including other UN agencies and partners, to facilitate effective communication and information exchange.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior IT Assistant will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting in the implementation of IT standards that meet user needs; monitoring and maintaining local area networks (LAN), network servers, routers, printers, and other ICT equipment; conducting routine maintenance and installation of ICT equipment; ensuring quick recovery from ICT problems and performing regular system backups; assisting with software installations and basic hardware repairs; training staff on email systems and telecommunications; managing user accounts and maintaining an inventory of ICT equipment; drafting technical documentation and correspondence related to ICT matters; certifying invoices and delivery notes; evaluating the need for upgrades or replacements of ICT equipment; selecting efficient communication methods; carrying out administrative duties; resolving incidents and escalating unresolved issues; and supporting risk management efforts within the area of responsibility.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or 1 year of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Essential qualifications include relevant experience in the ICT field, particularly with wireless and VoIP systems, and knowledge of telecommunications and information technology. Hands-on experience with electricity, generators, and lightning protection is considered an asset. Candidates should also demonstrate strong computer literacy and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a High School Diploma as a minimum, with a Bachelor’s degree or higher being advantageous. Relevant certifications in telecommunications and information technology are also essential for this role, as they validate the candidate's expertise and knowledge in the field.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have at least 2 years of relevant experience in the ICT field for those with a High School Diploma, or 1 year of relevant experience for those with a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Languages:
