Job Overview: The UN Volunteer will work under the direct supervision of the Digital Communication Officer to support the implementation of UNICEF Brazil’s digital engagement and youth participation strategies. This role focuses on the #tmjUNICEF volunteer program and the #EntreNoClimaUNICEF movement, as well as maintaining UNICEF’s official social networks. The volunteer will be responsible for developing and implementing an annual action plan for volunteers, which includes training opportunities and strategies to maintain high engagement levels. They will also plan key moments for the creation and dissemination of volunteer-generated content, provide training and support to volunteers for social media content production, and act as the main point of contact for volunteers. The role involves managing the volunteer database, facilitating collaboration between volunteers and relevant programmatic areas, and coordinating events and digital engagement activities. The volunteer will also support the production of digital materials and assist during UNICEF events, ensuring effective communication and logistical support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Volunteer Engagement: Develop and implement an annual action plan for volunteers, including training opportunities and strategies to maintain engagement. Plan key moments for volunteer-generated content creation and dissemination. Provide training and support to volunteers for social media and campaign materials. Act as the main contact for volunteers, sharing relevant content and managing the volunteer database. Review scripts and coordinate approvals as needed. Facilitate collaboration between volunteers and programmatic areas. Coordinate events and monitor relationships with volunteers through regular meetings. Prepare participation certificates for training sessions and volunteer participation at year-end. Coordinate #EntreNoClimaUNICEF Action Days and related content production.
Digital Communication and Events: Support the production of digital materials for communication and representative social networks. Provide assistance during UNICEF events, including logistical and communication support.
Youth Advocates Engagement: Develop an annual action plan for Youth Advocates, mapping participation opportunities across campaigns and events. Create a development plan for Youth Advocates, including mentoring and training opportunities to strengthen advocacy skills.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and motivate volunteers. They should have experience in digital communication, social media management, and content creation. Familiarity with advocacy campaigns and youth engagement strategies is essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate creativity, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary for managing multiple tasks and projects effectively. Knowledge of UNICEF's mission and values, particularly regarding children's rights, is highly desirable.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in communications, social sciences, international relations, or a related field is required. Additional training or certifications in marketing" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">digital marketing, social media management, or youth engagement would be advantageous. Candidates should have a strong understanding of the principles of child rights and advocacy, as well as experience working with youth and community engagement initiatives.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of experience in digital communication, volunteer management, or related fields. Experience working with youth and community organizations is highly valued. Familiarity with UNICEF's programs and initiatives, particularly in Brazil, will be considered an asset. The ability to work in a multicultural environment and engage with diverse communities is essential.
Languages: Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory, as the role involves communication with local volunteers and stakeholders. Proficiency in English and/or Spanish is considered a strong asset, particularly for content translation and communication with international teams. Knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial but is not required.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and the volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position is classified as a family duty station with good living conditions and access to health services. The volunteer will be part of the malicious insurance plan and must comply with safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security protocols in Brazil, which is classified as security level 3 (moderate). The role may involve occasional travel to rural areas or indigenous reservations, where special procedures may apply.
