Job Overview:
The National Individual Consultant - Graphic Designer position is designed to support the UNDP in South Sudan by providing high-quality graphic design services. The consultant will be responsible for creating visual content that effectively communicates the UNDP's messages and initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of design principles, creativity, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. The consultant will be expected to produce a range of materials, including brochures, reports, social media graphics, and presentations, ensuring that all designs align with the UNDP branding guidelines. The consultant will work for a period of 62 working days, during which they will be expected to deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to feedback.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the National Individual Consultant - Graphic Designer include but are not limited to:
  • Collaborating with UNDP staff to understand design needs and objectives.
  • Creating visually appealing graphics for various platforms, including print and digital media.
  • Ensuring all designs adhere to UNDP branding and style guidelines.
  • Developing infographics and visual representations of data to enhance communication.
  • Preparing and presenting design concepts for review and feedback.
  • Making revisions based on feedback from stakeholders to finalize designs.
  • Managing multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Staying updated on design trends and software to ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Providing support in the development of marketing materials and campaigns as needed. 1
  • Documenting design processes and maintaining organized files for all projects.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include:
  • Proven experience as a graphic designer or in a related field.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Attention to detail and a strong sense of aesthetics.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of UNDP branding and communication guidelines is an advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes:
  • A bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in graphic design or related software are a plus.
  • Continuous professional development in design trends and technologies is encouraged.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for the position includes:
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in graphic design.
  • Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality designs under tight deadlines.

Languages:
The mandatory language requirement for this position is proficiency in English. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in South Sudan, such as Arabic or local dialects, would be considered an asset, enhancing communication with local stakeholders.

This position is a contract-based role for a duration of 62 working days. It is expected to be a full-time engagement, and the consultant will work remotely or on-site as required by the project needs. The consultant will be compensated based on the UNDP's established rates for individual contractors.
