Job Overview: The Project Associate position is integral to the Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMII) Unit within IOM Cambodia. The role involves providing comprehensive programmatic, administrative, and technical coordination for various LMI activities. The Project Associate will work under the guidance of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the National Project Officer. This position requires independent oversight of specific project components, necessitating extensive liaison with both internal and external stakeholders. The Project Associate will support the planning, monitoring, and reporting of project tasks, ensuring that project activities are implemented effectively and efficiently. The role also includes drafting reports, correspondence, and other documentation related to project issues, as well as responding to complex information requests and inquiries. The Project Associate will play a key role in organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions, and will assist in coordinating implementation activities with local authorities, partners, and various organizations relevant to the project.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Project Associate include: assisting in the implementation and monitoring of project activities; retrieving, compiling, summarizing, analyzing, and presenting information/data on specific project topics; monitoring the project budget, verifying the availability of funds, obtaining necessary approvals, and updating budget-related information; acting as the focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation; drafting status reports and identifying shortfalls in delivery; preparing and updating reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and presentations; responding to complex information requests and inquiries; setting up and maintaining files/records; organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions; participating in meetings and conferences; assisting in coordinating implementation activities with local authorities and various stakeholders; monitoring the work of implementing partners and reporting non-compliances; providing guidance and training to new or junior staff; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Project Associate position include a school diploma with five years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience. Candidates must have experience working on projects related to labor migration, skills development, and social development, as well as experience in project implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Additionally, experience in liaising with governmental authorities and various organizations is essential, along with prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multi-cultural setting being an advantage.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a school diploma with five years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience if they hold a Bachelor’s degree, or five years of relevant experience if they have a school diploma. Experience should include working on projects related to labor migration, skills development, and social development, as well as project implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Candidates should also have experience in organizing and facilitating meetings, workshops, and training events, and in liaising with governmental authorities and various organizations.
Languages: Fluency in English and Khmer is required, both oral and written. IOM’s official languages include English, French, and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages may be evaluated during the selection process, which could include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: The position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Cambodia will be eligible for consideration. The appointment will be contingent upon certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, visa, and necessary authorizations by the concerned government.
