Job Overview: The Technical Assistant Fisheries position is crucial for supporting the National coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Coordinator in the effective implementation of fisheries-related projects in Lebanon. This role involves providing technical and logistical assistance, coordinating with various stakeholders, and contributing to monitoring and reporting efforts. The Technical Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring that fisheries initiatives are not only operationally effective but also environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive. The position requires a proactive approach to assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of projects, ensuring compliance with FAO guidelines and best practices. The Technical Assistant will also be involved in data collection and analysis, project documentation, and stakeholder engagement, making it essential for the success of the fisheries projects.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Technical Assistant Fisheries will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including: assisting in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of fisheries projects; providing information and documentation for project proposals, work plans, budgets, and technical documentation; conducting field visits, assessments, and surveys to collect data; contributing to the preparation of technical reports and recommendations; coordinating among project partners and stakeholders; organizing and participating in meetings, workshops, and training sessions; supporting the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks; tracking project progress and preparing regular reports; ensuring compliance with FAO guidelines; identifying training needs of project staff and stakeholders; organizing capacity-building activities; developing training materials; collaborating with the Knowledge Management team; maintaining organized records and archives; providing administrative assistance; and performing any other related tasks as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: a university degree in fisheries, marine sciences, environmental sciences, or a related field; at least 4 years of relevant experience in technical project support and/or administrative roles within development projects, particularly in fisheries or related fields; and a working knowledge of English at level C. Additionally, candidates must be nationals of Lebanon.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in fisheries, marine sciences, environmental sciences, or a related field. It is essential that candidates have obtained their higher educational qualifications from institutions accredited or recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in technical project support and/or administrative roles within development projects, especially in fisheries or related fields. Candidates should have experience in field support, data management, reporting, and project administration, demonstrating a solid understanding of the fisheries sector in Lebanon.
Languages: A working knowledge of English (level C) is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, although not explicitly stated as a requirement.
