Job Overview:
The position involves co-leading efforts to strengthen intersectoral collaboration between education, child protection, and gender-based violence (GBV) actors throughout the Humanitarian Programme Cycle (HPC). The consultant will work on updating the CP-EiE Collaboration Framework, integrating a GBV lens, and enhancing the representation and participation of Women-Led Organizations (WLOs) in Education Clusters. The role requires the consultant to facilitate workshops, develop guidance materials, and conduct a 'State of Play' study to document the involvement of WLOs in Education coordination" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Cluster coordination. The consultant will also be responsible for delivering practical recommendations and facilitating peer learning across contexts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support Country Education Clusters and Child Protection and GBV actors in identifying and implementing priority actions for gender-sensitive education and protection collaboration.
  • Facilitate workshops with Education, Child Protection, and GBV partners to develop country-specific Collaboration Frameworks.
  • Update Safety Audit tools based on recent literature and reports to reflect child violence and protection needs.
  • Co-lead the update of the CP-EiE Collaboration Framework, integrating GBV considerations and documenting good practices.
  • Conduct a 'State of Play' study on the representation of WLOs in Education Cluster coordination.
  • Support Country Clusters and WLOs in identifying actions to enhance WLO participation and leadership in EiE coordination.
  • Develop and share guidance on enhancing WLO participation and leadership in EiE coordination.
  • Liaise between GEC and country office cluster coordinators to monitor humanitarian situations and provide updates.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Master's degree in International Affairs, Humanitarian Affairs, Education, Political Science, Management, or a relevant field.
  • Work Experience: At least 8 years of progressively responsible work experience in humanitarian coordination and response, with demonstrated expertise in education in emergencies and GBV.
  • Preferred experience with UN/UNICEF and knowledge of humanitarian clusters.
  • Experience working with local and national Women Led Organizations is an asset.
  • Proven ability to conduct consultations with women and girls and utilize participatory approaches.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in a relevant field such as International Affairs, Humanitarian Affairs, Education, Political Science, or Management is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure the consultant has the necessary theoretical knowledge and understanding of the complexities involved in humanitarian coordination and response, particularly in the context of education and child protection.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible work experience in humanitarian coordination and response. This experience should include demonstrated technical expertise in education in emergencies and GBV, as well as familiarity with child protection issues. Previous experience with UN or UNICEF is preferred, along with a strong understanding of humanitarian clusters and their operations.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory, with French being a strong asset. Other languages, particularly Spanish or Arabic, are also desirable. This multilingual capability is important for effective communication and collaboration in diverse international contexts.

  • The consultant will work from home but is expected to travel as needed. Payment will be made upon submission of an invoice and satisfactory completion of deliverables.
