Job Overview: The Web Production Consultant will play a crucial role in enhancing UN Women's global website by preparing and producing website products in English, French, and Spanish. This position involves assisting web editors in planning and producing editorial packages for significant milestones and campaigns, ensuring that all content aligns with UN Women and UN style guides. The consultant will be responsible for coordinating with translation vendors, proofreading content, and ensuring timely web production of translated materials. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving formatting issues, as well as collaborating with multimedia teams to integrate audio-visual assets into web products. The consultant will also need to stay updated on web technology trends to ensure that the website content is optimized for search engines and user experience. This position is remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements while contributing to larger cross-team projects and campaigns.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and produce high-quality website products for UN Women’s global website in English, French, and Spanish using the Content Management System (CMS).
Assist web editors in planning and producing editorial packages for major milestones, campaigns, and program impacts.
Coordinate with translation vendors and proofreaders to ensure the timely receipt and web production of translated content.
Ensure alignment with best practices on website content and adherence to UN Women and UN style guides.
Proofread and produce web content using the CMS, ensuring high quality and timeliness.
Liaise with the multimedia team and web editors to incorporate audio-visual assets into website products as necessary.
Support coordination with vendors and proofreaders for the upload of translated content in French and Spanish.
Collaborate with the digital and ICT team to support website production functions.
Identify and rectify formatting problems in website content and manage media assets. 1
Stay informed about new trends in web technology to enhance SEO and user experience. 1
Support larger cross-team projects and campaigns through web production of editorial packages. 1
Assist the editorial team with additional tasks as required.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in website production and proficiency in using Content Management Systems (CMS) for web content production, specifically Drupal.
Proficiency in HTML and CSS, along with familiarity with new technologies and tools in website production.
Experience in proofreading editorial material and adherence to style guides.
Strong writing skills and experience in multimedia storytelling and production are advantageous.
Self-motivated, organized, and capable of multitasking while managing multiple responsibilities under tight deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, particularly in English, are essential.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree or equivalent in Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: At least 1 year of professional experience in web writing and web production is required. Candidates must have experience working with Content Management Systems, as well as proficiency in HTML and CSS. Familiarity with the United Nations, international development, and gender equality issues is considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Fluency in Spanish and/or French is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to produce and manage multilingual content effectively.
