Job Overview:
The position of Videographer for the UN Video Section involves capturing high-quality footage of interviews and B-roll for the United Nations Youth Office’s Young Leader for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The videographer will work under the guidance of a UN Video producer and is expected to deliver broadcast-quality footage that adheres to the UN Video's specifications. This role requires not only technical skills in video filming and editing but also the ability to work in an international setting, ensuring that all footage is captured with the appropriate permissions and in compliance with UN guidelines. The videographer must be equipped with professional filming equipment and be able to communicate effectively with the interviewee, particularly in their language, to ensure a smooth filming process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The videographer will be responsible for the following duties: 1) Liaising with the UN Video producer to establish timelines and deadlines for the project. 2) Participating in online meetings to discuss specific filming instructions and requirements. 3) Filming interviews and B-roll footage at designated locations, ensuring that all footage meets broadcast quality standards. 4) Delivering the completed footage to the UN Video individual contractor manager via online transfer methods such as WeTransfer, Dropbox, or Google Drive. 5) Ensuring compliance with UN Video guidelines, including obtaining necessary permissions and copyright approvals, especially when filming minors. 6) Maintaining a professional standard in all aspects of filming, including lighting and sound recording. 7) Providing employment verification letters and work samples as requested.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communication, journalism, video, film and television, or related fields. Alternatively, a High School diploma combined with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a university degree. A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in communication, journalism, video, film, and television is required, along with proven experience in video filming and editing. Candidates must also demonstrate proficiency in proper lighting techniques and sound recording, and must be equipped with a professional video camera, tripod, portable lighting, and microphones. A stable internet connection for video transfer is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, video, film and television, or a related area. In cases where a candidate does not hold a degree, a High School diploma along with two additional years of qualifying experience may be considered acceptable. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the principles of effective communication and media production.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of experience in video filming and editing, with a focus on communication, journalism, or related fields. Candidates should have a track record of progressively responsible experience, demonstrating their ability to handle various aspects of video production, including filming, editing, and post-production processes. Experience in international settings is desirable, as it indicates the ability to adapt to diverse environments and work with various cultural contexts.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another UN official language, such as French, is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's suitability for the role, particularly in facilitating communication with diverse interviewees.
