Job Overview:
The position of Videographer for the UN Youth Office involves capturing high-quality video footage of interviews and B-roll related to the Young Leader for the SDGs initiative. The videographer will work under the UN Video Section of the News and Content Branch, ensuring that all footage meets the broadcast quality standards set by the UN. This role requires the videographer to liaise with UN Video producers to establish timelines and attend online meetings to discuss specific shooting instructions. The videographer will be responsible for delivering the footage to the UN Video individual contractor manager using online transfer methods. The position is expected to last between one to three days, and the videographer must possess the necessary equipment and skills to produce professional-grade video content.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the videographer include: 1) Liaising with the UN Video producer to agree on timelines and deadlines for the project. 2) Attending online meetings with UN Video to receive specific instructions on how to shoot the interview and B-roll footage. 3) Filming interviews and B-roll in the designated location, ensuring that all footage is of broadcast quality and adheres to the specified landscape aspect ratio. 4) Granting full rights to all recorded footage to the United Nations. 5) Delivering the completed footage to the UN Video individual contractor manager using an online transfer method such as WeTransfer, Dropbox, or Google Drive. 6) Following UN Video guidelines, including obtaining necessary permissions and copyright approvals, especially when filming minors. 7) Ensuring that the videographer is equipped with a professional video camera (4K desirable), a tripod, portable lighting, and a microphone. 8) Demonstrating a minimum of three years of experience in video filming and editing, as well as proficiency in lighting techniques and sound recording. 9) Providing employment verification letters and work samples upon request.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communication, journalism, video, film, television, or related fields. Alternatively, a High School degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of a university degree. A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in communication, journalism, video, film, or television is mandatory. The candidate must have experience in video filming and editing, as well as proficiency in proper lighting techniques and sound recording. Additionally, the videographer must possess the necessary equipment, including a professional video camera, tripod, portable lighting, and microphones, and have a stable internet connection for video transfer.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as communication, journalism, video, film, or television. In cases where a candidate has a High School diploma, they must also have two additional years of qualifying experience to meet the educational requirements. This educational background is essential to ensure that the videographer possesses the necessary skills and knowledge to perform the job effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in video filming and editing, as well as experience in communication, journalism, or related areas. Candidates should have a proven track record of producing high-quality video content, demonstrating expertise in lighting techniques and sound recording. Experience in filming and producing in international settings is desirable, as it indicates the ability to adapt to diverse environments and cultural contexts.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another UN official language, such as French, is considered desirable and may enhance the candidate's suitability for the role, particularly in international settings where multilingual communication is beneficial.
