Job Overview:
The position of Videographer for the UN Youth Office involves capturing high-quality video footage of interviews and B-roll related to the Young Leader for the SDGs initiative. The videographer will work closely with the UN Video producer to ensure that all footage meets the broadcast quality standards set by the UN Video Section. This role requires the videographer to have a strong understanding of video production techniques, including lighting, sound recording, and editing, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while adhering to strict deadlines. The videographer will be responsible for delivering the footage in a timely manner and ensuring that all necessary permissions and copyrights are obtained, particularly when filming minors. This position is expected to last between one to three days, depending on the scope of the filming required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Videographer include: 1) Liaising with the UN Video producer to establish timelines and deadlines for the project. 2) Participating in online meetings with UN Video to receive detailed instructions on filming techniques and requirements. 3) Filming interviews and B-roll footage at designated locations, ensuring that all content is of broadcast quality. 4) Granting full rights to all footage recorded to the United Nations. 5) Delivering the completed footage to the UN Video individual contractor manager via online transfer methods such as WeTransfer, Dropbox, or Google Drive. 6) Adhering to UN Video guidelines, including obtaining necessary permissions and copyright approvals for all filmed content. 7) Ensuring that the filming equipment used meets professional standards, including a 4K video camera, tripod, portable lighting, and microphones. 8) Following best practices for lighting and sound recording to enhance the quality of the footage. 9) Providing employment verification letters and work samples upon request.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communication, journalism, video, film, television, or related fields. Alternatively, a High School diploma combined with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a university degree. A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in communication, journalism, video, film, or television is required, with a strong emphasis on video filming and editing. Candidates must also demonstrate proficiency in lighting techniques and sound recording, and must be equipped with the necessary filming equipment. A stable internet connection for video transfer is essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, video, film, television, or a related area. In cases where a candidate does not hold a degree, a High School diploma along with two additional years of qualifying experience may be considered acceptable. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the principles of video production and communication.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in the fields of communication, journalism, video, film, or television. Candidates should have substantial experience in video filming and editing, as well as a proven track record of working with proper lighting techniques and sound recording. Experience in filming and producing content in international settings is highly desirable, as it indicates the ability to adapt to diverse environments and cultural contexts.

Languages:
