The role of the International UN Volunteer Communication & Advocacy Specialist will involve providing high-level communications support to the leadership of the country office for public and policy advocacy for child rights in the Central African Republic. The candidate will also support the production of creative content for office campaigns and manage social media, combining strong communication skills with an interest in high-level advocacy and influencing policy processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support country office management with high-level advocacy by developing a plan to support key communication priorities, assisting the office leadership with outreach to key actors and partners to influence policy decisions in favor of children, and providing the Representative with talking points, briefing notes, and key messages for media engagements.
  • Support public advocacy campaigns around office priority areas for children by producing high-level advocacy messaging products and influencing partnerships between the office and other institutions. This includes creating communication and advocacy plans to influence changes in favor of child rights through digital campaigns and creative products.
  • Manage digital and social media accounts by ensuring that communication products are compelling and relevant, developing short videos, infographics, and interactive content, monitoring digital interactions, and producing regular reports on their impact.
  • Utilize social media marketing tools to enhance the reach and impact of social and digital media outlets.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, teamwork, commitment to continuous learning, effective planning and organizing skills, strong communication abilities, and flexibility. They should have a proven understanding of UNICEF operations, technical capabilities relevant to UNICEF procedures, and the ability to liaise with various actors, especially in senior positions. Candidates should also exhibit discretion, political sensitivity, and the ability to manage information confidentially and objectively. Furthermore, they should be adaptable to diverse cultural environments and committed to gender equality and the principles of voluntary engagement.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, social sciences, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in relevant areas will be considered an asset.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in communication, advocacy, or related fields. Experience in a multicultural environment and familiarity with the UN system or international organizations will be advantageous. Proven experience in managing social media platforms and producing multimedia content is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English and French is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the Central African Republic would be an asset, enhancing communication with diverse communities.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time role as an International UN Volunteer. The living conditions in the Central African Republic, particularly in Bangui, require adherence to UN security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security protocols due to the fragile security situation. The role may involve travel within the area of operations and adapting to potentially hazardous conditions. The local currency is the CFA franc, and candidates should be aware of health risks such as malaria and yellow fever, ensuring they are up to date with vaccinations and have a robust medical kit.
