Job Overview:
The position of Especialista en Gestión for the UNESCO-Quellaveco-REIMAGINA project involves managing, coordinating, and articulating the development of the project throughout 202
  • The project aims to improve the learning outcomes of 12,000 schoolchildren in the Moquegua region of Peru, promoting innovative methodologies that enhance academic experiences and socio-emotional and digital skills. The specialist will work closely with teachers in classrooms, ensuring the project's objectives are met and that a collaborative and participatory approach is maintained within the team. The role requires a strong focus on programmatic management, including the achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual results, as well as the technical, programmatic, and budgetary follow-up necessary for effective implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual results/products, providing adequate technical, programmatic, and budgetary follow-up.
  • Update planning tools that align with the project's objectives, results, activities, and respective indicators.
  • Maintain updated planning and follow-up tools, preparing matrices for monthly presentation to the Education Sector Coordinator.
  • Supervise the execution of activities and ensure timely budget execution.
  • Manage the team of professionals and consultants, reviewing and validating their products monthly.
  • Maintain ongoing contact and coordination with the UNESCO Education Sector in Peru and participate in regular sector meetings.
  • Conduct at least three missions to the Lima office to analyze and evaluate project progress.
  • Lead the local project team, establishing objectives and priorities, organizing tasks, and coordinating functions.
  • Establish criteria for performance evaluation of advisors and other professionals involved in the project. 1
  • Review and update reporting formats for activities and budget follow-up. 1
  • Ensure continuous information gathering on project activities and team actions. 1
  • Analyze and consolidate information for report preparation, including quarterly narrative reports. 1
  • Organize technical assistance priorities for local authorities and educational management instances. 1
  • Promote a positive team spirit and collaborative atmosphere to enhance project performance.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Sciences, Humanities, Administration, Public Management, or related fields.
  • Specialized studies or postgraduate education in the educational field.
  • Desirable: Master's degree.
  • Ten years of professional experience in the public and/or private sector.
  • At least five years of experience in coordinating, managing, or directing educational programs/projects or educational institutions.
  • Experience in technical coordination and capacity strengthening in training programs or support to educational specialists, teachers, or directors.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Education, Psychology, Social Sciences, Humanities, Administration, or Public Management. Additional qualifications include specialized studies or postgraduate education in the educational sector, with a master's degree being desirable.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of ten years of professional experience, with at least five years specifically in the coordination, management, or direction of educational programs or projects. Experience in educational interventions or social programs will be considered a significant advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, with native-level proficiency required for effective communication and reporting. Knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration is from 7 to 11 months, subject to budget availability and performance evaluation. The position is based in the Moquegua region, and candidates must either reside there or be willing to relocate. The role requires travel within and outside the country as needed for project requirements, with travel costs covered by the project. The contract does not include medical coverage or expectations for renewal or conversion to another type of contract.
