Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is situated within the Global Strategy and Policy Division (GSPD) of the Office of Human Resources (OHR) at the United Nations. This role is designed to provide interns with hands-on experience in various aspects of human resources and organizational development. Interns will work closely with a Project Lead, Staff Development Officer, or Human Resources Officer, gaining exposure to administrative tasks, communication strategies, research methodologies, and organizational learning initiatives. The internship is structured to last between three to six months, with a flexible work location that is primarily in-person and full-time, amounting to 35 hours per week. Interns will have the opportunity to engage in multiple projects, enhancing their skills and contributing to the UN's mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be involved in a variety of tasks that span several key areas: A. Administrative and Technical Skills: Interns will assist in the design, updating, and maintenance of internal records, databases, and SharePoint files, ensuring that all information is accurate and confidential. They will utilize Office 365 applications, Power BI, and other software to prepare presentations, reports, and communications for the team. B. Communications, Translation and Adaptation: Interns will help plan and disseminate communication products, contribute to translations or adaptations in languages they are proficient in, and design or edit visuals that adhere to UN branding guidelines. They will also learn to use software for creating visual products such as infographics and videos. C. Research and Data Analysis: Interns will conduct research on HR-related policies and best practices, summarize findings, and analyze data for internal reports and budget submissions. They will develop visual solutions based on data to support decision-making processes. D. Organizational Learning and Development: Interns will assist in designing and implementing learning initiatives and training materials on various topics, support briefings and community engagements, and help launch a new Learning Management System for the UN Secretariat. E. Other Opportunities: Interns will collaborate with different teams within OHR to support HR initiatives and propose solutions to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). A background in human resources, psychology, education, public administration, or related fields is desirable. While professional work experience is not required, applicants must have a field of study closely related to the internship. Good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel, is essential. Familiarity with content authoring software, synchronous learning tools, learning platforms, data analytic tools, and media design software is advantageous.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be students in their final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion must be provided with the application. The educational background should ideally align with the internship's focus areas, such as human resources or public administration.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required for this internship, applicants should demonstrate relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the duties and responsibilities of the position. This could include projects, research, or volunteer work related to human resources or organizational development.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.
