Job Overview:
The Digital Communication Trainee will play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and digital presence of DRC in Cameroon and Nigeria. This position is designed to support the development and implementation of DRC's digital communication strategy, which includes content production, social media management, and audience engagement. The trainee will work closely with the Programme Development and Quality Manager (PDQM) and will be responsible for creating high-quality digital materials such as texts, visuals, and videos that highlight DRC's programs and impact stories. The role also involves collaborating with program teams to develop communication assets for various stakeholders, including private foundations and corporate partners. The trainee will be based at the Coordination Office and will ensure that all digital communications align with DRC's global branding standards, thereby positioning DRC as a key humanitarian actor in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Digital Communication Trainee will have several key responsibilities, including:
  • Supporting the development and implementation of the digital communication strategy for DRC Cameroon and Nigeria, ensuring alignment with global branding guidelines.
  • Producing and adapting high-quality digital content, including texts, visuals, and videos, to showcase DRC's programs and advocacy messages.
  • Managing and updating DRC's social media platforms, including creating dedicated pages for both countries and engaging with online communities.
  • Tracking and analyzing the performance of digital campaigns and social media metrics, producing regular analytics dashboards, and suggesting improvements.
  • Assisting in preparing visibility campaigns and donor-facing communication materials.
  • Coordinating with program teams to gather information and multimedia content, ensuring consistency of messaging across all platforms.
  • Performing additional duties as requested by the PDQM, Head of Programme, or director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 2 years of experience in communication, marketing, or digital content creation. A university degree in communication, journalism, or a related field is required, or an equivalent professional qualification. Applicants should have a solid understanding of major social media platforms, basic knowledge of digital marketing principles, and basic video production skills. Proficiency with common digital tools such as Canva and Publisher is essential, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to follow brand guidelines are crucial. A proven interest in international development and the humanitarian field is also necessary, along with fluency in both written and spoken English and French.

Educational Background:
The position requires a university degree in communication, journalism, or a similar field, or an equivalent professional qualification. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively contribute to DRC's digital communication efforts.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in communication, marketing, or digital content creation. This experience should ideally be within the humanitarian or development sector, providing the candidate with a solid understanding of the challenges and opportunities in this field.

Languages:
Fluency in both written and spoken English and French is mandatory for this position. This bilingual requirement is crucial for effective communication within the organization and with stakeholders in both Cameroon and Nigeria. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
The position is a trainee role with a contract duration of 6 months.
